Beesana Super Slip Adult Diaper Review

Summary

The Beesana Super Slip is a high absorbency plastic-backed adult diaper produced by Meditrade GmbH. This diaper appears to be largely unknown outside of the European market and is primarily available in Germany. It’s marketed for overnight wear, which I feel is appropriate given its characteristics, and appears to be more targeted to the carer market. It has some conveniences in that respect, like a backsheet pattern to help with tape placement. However, it’s also a bit on the pricey side, which tends to be the case for products targeted more to individual buyers.

I found the Beesana Super Slip to be very comfortable in terms of both topsheet and backsheet. It’s nearly full featured with standing inner leak guards, leg gathers, and a rear waistband. Though I didn’t find the rear waistband to be particularly noticeable. The most exceptional feature of this diaper is its incredible wicking ability. In all capacity tests, moisture was able to wick through the full padding by the test end. As a result of this, I never had any issues with leaks and as long as you change after the second wetting it’s unlikely to leak on you. For this reason, I’d recommend giving this diaper a try, but mostly for non-active wear because it’s tough to get a snug fit with this one.

Key Features:

  • Plastic backsheet
  • Rear waistband
  • Standing inner leak barriers
  • Refastenable tapes

Pros:

  • Incredible wicking ability
  • High absorbency
  • Soft and comfortable

Cons:

  • Hard to find outside Europe
  • Some durability issues
  • Difficult to get a snug fit

Surface Dampness Rating: 7

During the lab capacity test the Beesana Super Slip showed very little surface dampness after the first wetting, but considerably more after the second. This puts it a bit below some of the more premium diapers on the market. Even so, during real world testing its superior wicking easily made up for this deficiency and I never found surface dampness to be much of an issue.

Posture Tests

Standing-Sitting

Total Absorbed Volume: 1217 ml (42.9 oz)
Total Wettings: (1 standing, 2 sitting)
Leaked After Sitting: No
Used to Total Padding Ratio: 100%
Padding to Absorbency Score: 0.82 ml / cm2 (0.19 oz / in2)

Standing-Sitting Rating: 8
The Beesana Super Slip had good results when tested when standing and sitting. The first wetting while standing was absorbed quickly and effectively wicked through the padding. There was some very temporary pooling but it was very short lived. Upon sitting 5 minutes later there was no sign of leakage. After the moisture was fully absorbed the diaper felt comfortable and the wetness was hardly noticeable. The second wetting while seated was again easily absorbed with no sign of leakage. Again, there was some pooling, but this diaper has very effective wicking and it didn’t last long. I noticed a bit more surface dampness when seated after the second wetting, but it was still reasonably comfortable. The third wetting was mostly absorbed, but there was a significant leak through the rear leg gathers. Remarkably by this point moisture had wicked through the entirety of the padding, demonstrating the strength of this diaper’s wicking ability. Based on this test I’d expect this diaper to consistently absorb 2 wettings during daily wear before leaking would be much of a concern.

Lying Down

Total Absorbed Volume: 1342 ml (47.3 oz)
Total Wettings: 3
Used to Total Padding Ratio: 100%
Padding to Absorbency Score: 0.90 ml / cm2 (0.20 oz / in2)

Lying Down Rating: 8

The Beesana Super Slip performed well when tested while lying down. The first wetting was absorbed quickly with minimal sensation of surface dampness afterwards. I wouldn’t rank it among the fastest absorbers as I noticed more pooling than others like the Attends Slip Regular Plus but not quite as much as the NorthShore MegaMax. On the second wetting the pooling was more apparent, but it was eventually completely absorbed with no signs of leakage. Once absorbed, the surface dampness subsided and it felt fairly comfortable. On the third wetting there was a substantial leak out the rear and the rear padding was completely saturated. Moisture had wicked across the entirety of the padding and the test was ended at that. Based on this I feel it would be reasonable to expect the Beesana Super Slip to absorb 2 full wettings when worn for bedwetting but certainly wouldn’t push it past that. Also, with that in mind, the fit can come a bit loose so pre-saturation leaks are possible when not well fastened.

Daily Wear and Bedwetting

The Beesana Super Slip is a reliably absorbent diaper that is highly resistant to leaks prior to saturation. I found this diaper could consistently take two full wettings without any leakage when seated or when worn for bedwetting. This makes the Beesana Super Slip quite practical, as I feel 2 wettings without leakage is generally enough for realistic usage for most scenarios; generally you would want a change after the second wetting if possible. The primary issue with this diaper is its fit. I found it tends to fit loose and if you try to make the tapes a bit tighter for a snugger fit that will actually make things worse as they’re likely to come detached. For this reason, I can’t say the Beesana Super Slip is best suited for daily wear. Even in overnight wear I also had some detachments when worn for bedwetting. In terms of comfort I have few complaints about this diaper outside of the looseness during daily wear. For non-active “around the house” wear, the looseness isn’t too much of an inconvenience (e.g. it won’t slide off on you). It was very similar to the Molicare Slip Maxi with its soft padding and backsheet and a general resistance to clamminess. Like the Molicare, this diaper is exceptional in its wicking ability and wettings are quickly distributed through the padding. That in itself helps maintain comfort by reducing the impact of pooling. Getting a good fit might be a challenge for some, this diaper has decent padding coverage but feels smaller than the Molicare Slip Maxi and proper lower tape placement can be a challenge. Overall, it’s not quite at a premium level, but I do feel its absorbency and wicking ability outweigh most of its downsides and would recommend it for non-active wear.

Suitability for Bowel Incontinence: 8

The Beesana Super Slip seems like a decent choice for managing bowel incontinence. It has a generous amount of rear padding and rear waistband (though I barely even noticed it). The plastic-backsheet would also be helpful. There’s also a fairly large pocket at the rear and decent leg gathers and leak guards for containment. My primary concern with this diaper in this regard is that it has a relatively loose fit and while I didn’t have too many issues I’m not sure how much I’d trust the tapes.

Wear & Tear Tests

Fitting

The Beesana Super Slip has a soft plastic backsheet with a rear waistband and uses a double tape fastener. The tapes can only be positioned one time, but can be refastened in that spot multiple times. The Beesana tapes are a bit on the smaller side and hold reasonably well, but I have experienced detachments.

3.1 Beesana Super Slip Fastener

Ease-of-Use Rating: 8

The Beesana Super Slip is quite user friendly. It features a wetness indicator, rear waistband, generous leak guards and guide lines printed on the backsheet to help achieve consistent tape placement. It was a bit tough to get a snug fit, but quite easy to get a comfortable fit and in many cases that’s what really matters. I also found its sizing to be a bit on the smaller size for "medium". The biggest challenge with this diaper is its tapes, which are rather small and could be tricky for some to apply. With this design and the choice of graphics on the package it feels like the Beesana Super Slip is geared toward the carer environment, but it’s of a good quality and I would certainly recommend it for non-active self-use.

3.2 Beesana Super Slip Diaper Fit

Comfort

Comfort Rating (dry): 9

The Beesana Super Slip features a soft plastic backsheet with some similarities to the Molicare Slip Maxi. The backsheet is far softer and more flexible than the rather stiff plastic of others like the NorthShore MegaMax though it also has a looser fit. The padding is again similar to the Molicare Slip Maxi in that it’s super soft with more “fluff” to it than you’ll find in many high capacity diapers. It’s also quite resistant to clumping or tearing of the padding so I never found that to be a problem. My biggest complaint with this diaper is that it can be difficult to get a snug fit and the tapes will occasionally slide. That said, for low activity wear and bedwetting I found it to be an excellent choice.

Comfort Rating (wet): 8

The Beesana Super Slip is surprisingly resistant to overheating and clamminess. I never found surface dampness to be much of a concern. If only wet once it feels the same as its dry state, in fact, when worn for bedwetting, I had to check the wetness indicator in the morning to confirm whether it was wet. The dampness will be a little more noticeable after a second wetting, but this diaper has very effective wicking and you can count on moisture to be distributed, reducing the impact of the surface dampness. My only complaint in terms of wet comfort goes back to the tape weakness and fit. It’s tough to get a real snug fit and the tapes can on occasion come loose, which will lead to sagging.

3.3 Beesana Super Slip Topsheet and Backsheet

Durability

Dry Padding Deterioration Proportion: 17% (topsheet), 21% (backsheet)
Shake Deterioration Test: 6 shakes to deterioration

Durability Rating (dry): 7
The Beesana Super Slip showed considerable padding deterioration after the dry deterioration test, though it was largely outside of the core padding. During daily wear I was never bothered by clumping or padding, so its deterioration may be a bit overstated as a result of having removed and stretched the diaper out to measure it. I suspect part of its deterioration issue may be due to the soft fibrous padding that also does such a good job at wicking. The tapes on this diaper are on the smaller end, but generally hold. That said, it’s tough to get a snug fit with this diaper so it can be prone to loosening with wear. In terms of dry durability this diaper falls short of other premium diapers like the Drylife SlipSuper, but has similar performance to the Tranquility ATN (with better capacity).

Durability Rating (wet): 8

The padding of the Beesana Super Slip is fairly durable in its wet state and I never experienced much in the way of clumping or tearing. It features a rear waistband but the tapes are a little on the weak side, which reduces the utility of this diaper for active wear. Moreover, the waistband didn’t seem to help much when it came to securing a snug fit. For lighter activities or bedwetting it’s more than durable enough. The challenge to get a snug fit makes this diaper a bit vulnerable to sagging, but not any more so than the Molicare Slip Maxi. In fact, I found this diaper to be very similar to the Molicare Slip Maxi in terms of wet durability and both performed comparably in the wet shake test.

3.4 Beesana Super Slip Dry Test Deterioration

Discretion Tests

Profile

Front Rise Above Waistline (Jeans, Sweatpants): 4 cm (1.6"), 4 cm (1.6")
Back Rise Above Waistline (Jeans, Sweatpants): 5 cm (2"), 5 cm (2")
Side Rise Above Waistline (Jeans, Sweatpants): 5 cm (2"), 4 cm (1.6")

Profile Discretion Rating: 6

I found this diaper was easier to conceal than the Molicare Slip Maxi, in spite of its similarities. That said, some care would be needed to avoid a diaper bulge and this definitely wouldn’t work under tight fitting clothing. Your best bet to maintain discretion when going out would be to wear it under meshpants or regular underwear for a snugger fit.

Noise

Noise Rating: 7

The soft plastic and decent padding coverage in the Beesana Super Slip actually helps a fair amount to dampen its sound. This is particularly true when worn dry. I did notice minor crinkling noises with movements but it was hardly perceivable with any degree of background noise.

4.3 Beesana Super Slip Noise Profile

Odor Reduction

Odor Reduction Rating: 8
The Beesana Super Slip does a good job at repelling odors and I never noticed much during testing. However, the looser fit means odors won’t be completely contained and it is somewhat susceptible to surface dampness. Again I rank it similar to the Molicare Slip Maxi in this regard.
